3rd BIPHOREP Workshop 20.-22.7.1997, Mekrijärvi, Ilomantsi
Dear BIPHOREP participants
Our second measurement season has began. We are planning the summer workshop at
Mekrijärvi. After the workshop we have 6 months to process our results for the final
report. In addition to scientific papers by each participant it is now the time to agree on
integrative research reporting. I would like to suggest that at Mekrijärvi we should agree
on common tasks to be done in coherent ways e.g. biogenic emission modellers need
emission factor data and data on physical environment and photochemical modellers
need scenario data on physical and chemical environment.

Saturday, 19th July, Arrival at Joensuu
Jürgen Kesselmeier & Burkhard Wilske (MPI) arrive at Joensuu Airport by plane and
they’ll accommodate in Hotel Kimmel, Joensuu.
Sunday, 20th July -- Visits to the field sites - Preliminary discussions
Harri Hypén and/or Seppo Kellomäki pick(s) up JK & BW from Hotel Kimmel and drive
together to Mekrijärvi Research Station, Ilomantsi, by mini-bus. Tuomas Laurila and Janne
Rinne (FMI) stay already at Mekrijärvi, like do Rainer Steinbrecher, Karin Hauff and their
technical/scientifical staff (3 persons) (IFU). Robert Janson and Claes DeServes (MISU)
arrive at Mekrijärvi by car from Helsinki or Turku car ferry by sunset.

Monday, 21st July. Fun turns out, It’s time for hard work and some
bureaucracy
Virpi Lindfors and Hannele Hakola (FMI) arrive at Joensuu Airport by plane and
drive to Mekrijärvi Research Station, Ilomantsi by car. They’ll join the meeting before the
discussions begin. Virpi Lindfors will leave Mekrijärvi after dinner.
